| Featured PETS of the week: Meet Elvira: An Angel and Miracle Cat Who Needs a Home The above photo is of an adult cat named Elvira who came to the our shelter about three weeks ago. She was less than two weeks away from giving birth, A few days after arriving her breathing became labored so she was taken to the vet. At first the vet thought that she was about to give birth...until he found a lump in her throat that was obstructing her breathing. At first he feared the worse. The vet was worried that it was a tumor and that she would need to be euthanized. Needless to say we were all DEVASTATED! After further examination, the vet thought perhaps Elvira had an infection and that antibiotics might help. She had four full-term healthy kittens in her as determined by ultra-sound. By the next morning, she was starting to breathe more easily! About a week later Elvira gave birth to four healthy babies and was completely healthy herself. When the babies were almost a week old, a lady called in with a little white kitten she'd found in her yard that was only 2-3 days old. She bottle fed it for a day and then started checking at shelters to see if there were any momma cats that might accept this orphan. As you can see: Elvira accepted the orphaned white kitten with open arms!!! Now that all FIVE of HER kittens have been adopted she is very sad. She loves people and is sweet as can be! KITTENS! Lots of very young male and female kittens available. All color coats and eyes available. Until December 31st special prices for kittens and cats.
